First Volley adaptive tennis clinics took place recently at the Alta Vista Tennis Courts of Redondo Beach, California, the Orthotic & Prosthetic Assistance Fund (OPAF) announced. The clinic, led by First Volley Instructor Stan Backovsky and assisted by USTA wheelchair instructor, Tiffany Geller, drew in more than one dozen participants, who received both one-on-one and group instruction. "This clinic has been growing and thriving for over two years," said OPAF executive director, Robin Burton. "We continue to see new faces and well as our faithful First Volley veterans." One of the newest faces to join First Volley, Burton added, was two-year-old Ezra French, a recent amputee who came with his parents to see what First Volley was all about. The toddler was given one of the Billie Jean King tennis racquets with the promise that when he's recovered, he'll be joining in with the rest of the gang. Another new face was Rudy Lee from the VA hospital in Long Beach.
