Charles “Charlie” William Quebbeman, CP, CPed, died August 23 in
a boating accident on Clark Lake, Michigan. According to the
Jackson Citizen Patriot newspaper, the 58-year-old husband
and father was born on November 16, 1950, in Albion, Michigan. He
was a high school athlete and was a student manager of the football
team at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he earned a
bachelor’s degree in English. He later attended Northwestern
University, Chicago, Illinois, and through the McGraw Medical
Center became a certified prosthetist and pedorthist. He owned and
founded Quality Prosthetics & Orthotic Care Inc., Battle Creek,
Michigan. He was described as a man of “easy grace, quick humor,
and steadfast friendship” who loved “volleyball, sailing, golf,
skiing, coaching soccer, the University of Michigan athletics, the
University of Michigan marching band, the Tigers, Red Wings,
playing the harmonica, and [the acoustic rock band] Little Feat.”
He was an active volunteer in athletic, educational, and outdoor
programs.
