The American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy) has released a call for papers and presentations to be presented at its 36th annual meeting and scientific symposium, March 24-27, 2010.
According to the Academy, the Clinical Content Committee will review all abstracts as potential Thranhardt Lectures unless the author designates that he or she does not want the paper considered. The committee will select the 2010 Howard R. Thranhardt finalists and free-paper presentations. Free-paper submissions should offer solutions to common problems, patient and practice management techniques, innovative uses of technology, or current research findings. The content and/or presentation of the information will promote quality or improvements in orthotic or prosthetic care. Free paper presentations are 12 minutes in length.
The Howard R. Thranhardt Lecture Series is part of an education fund that was established in memory of Howard R. Thranhardt, CP. Abstracts will be chosen by the committee as potential recipients of the Thranhardt lecture honorarium. These presentations will be given at the annual meeting. Two $500 honoraria will be awarded to the two best presentations selected. Thranhardt lecture presentations are 20 minutes in length.
Poster presentations provide a forum for a one-to-one, in-depth discussion using narrative and visual material to display and communicate the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of a specific research study or illustrate a piece of equipment, technique, program, etc.
Submissions are due Friday, July 31, 2009.
