David C. Schultz, CPO, passed away on September 29. He was 70.
Schultz devoted his life’s work to providing abilities to people with disabilities. He was the former president and CEO of ACME Laboratories, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and ACTRA Rehab Associates, Brookfield, Wisconsin.
“Dave provided wisdom and grace to the orthotic and prosthetic community and demonstrated to all the need to give back,” wrote Michael Burton, vice president of OPGA, Waterloo, Iowa, on Legacy.com’s online guestbook. “Dave constantly gave his time, talents, and finances to the profession he served and the community where he lived. He shall be missed dearly by his family, friends, colleagues, and patients. His examples of volunteerism and principles stand as a lesson to all.”
Schultz is survived by his wife Lynne (nee Hupf); children Jeff (Jemi), Lori (Dan) Barbeau, Shane Budde, and Peter (Chelsea) Budde; stepchildren Heather Muhle (Jason Karus) and Chris (Anna) Muhle; grandchildren Erin, Emily, Elissa, Natasha, Kane, Haley, Molly, Justus, Noelle, Hannah, Claire, Emily, and Abby; brothers Charles (Peggy) and Jack (Carol); and great-grandchild Jacob; as well as other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a grandson.
Schultz held presidential offices in the American Orthotics & Prosthetics Association (AOPA) and the American Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics (the Academy). He also served as vice president of the International Association of Trade Association (INTERBOR).
