Paul Murka, CPO, FAAOP, passed away on December 6. He was 59.
As CEO of Fidelity Orthopedic, Dayton, Ohio, Murka was a third-generation O&P practitioner who provided clinical care for more than 35 years. He held a bachelor’s degree from Miami University, Ohio, an O&P certificate from Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois, and became a fellow of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy) in 2003. He served as a member of the Academy’s board of directors and was a past president of the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) and of the Ohio Orthotic and Prosthetic Association. According to his Fidelity Orthopedic biography, he served as adjunct professor of biomedical and human factors engineering at Wright State University, Dayton, and as a member of advisory committees at a variety of institutions, including the Montgomery County Combined Health District, the Rehabilitation Institute of Ohio, and the Franciscan Medical Center Rehab Department.
Murka is survived by his sons, Mark and Adam Murka; and his sisters, Deborah Casad and Mary Beth Roberts.
