A team of journalists from MSNBC recently arrived in Haiti to follow Jay Tew, CP, and other volunteers as they provide prosthetic care to the survivors of the January 12 earthquake. Tew is a clinician with Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics, Bethesda, Maryland. MSNBC health writer and editor JoNel Aleccia and multimedia producers John Brecher and Carissa Ray joined Tew and the rest of the team onsite at the Haitian Amputee Coalition Prosthetic and Rehabilitation Center at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Deschapelles, Haiti. The nearly ten-day visit is part of MSNBC’s recently launched multimedia report titled Haiti’s Amputees: Building A Life Worth Living. The special report was designed to follow the prosthetic team as they restore mobility to Haitian amputees.
