The Can-Am National Swimming Championships are over, but their legacy is just the beginning of a long journey for some champion adaptive swimmers. The March 25-27 event, held in San Antonio, Texas, saw U.S athletes breaking 19 world, Pan-American, and American swimming records, and set 27 of them on the road to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming World Championships, which will be held in Eindhoven, Netherlands, August 15-21, 2010. According to U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) writer Katie Breitbach, 25 of these athletes previously competed in Beijing’s 2008 Paralympic Games.
