Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, based in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and its founder, Jeff Brandt, CPO and CEO, recently contributed to the ongoing Dale Yasukawa Memorial Scholarship Fund, maintained by the Orthotic and Prosthetic Assistance Fund (OPAF) and the First Clinics. This scholarship was established in 2001 to honor Dale Yasukawa, CP, who had served as director of prosthetics for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), Illinois.
“I was the fortunate recipient of the Gunther Gehl-Northwestern Scholarship when I attended Northwestern University Prosthetic and Orthotic Center (NUPOC), so I understand the importance of the Dale Yasukawa Scholarship Fund,” said Brandt, who worked with Yasukawa at RIC for two years.
The Dale Yasukawa Memorial Scholarship was established for full-time certificate candidates pursuing a career in O&P at Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois. It is expected that the award will be used to defray registration fees at the next American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium and assist in the purchasing of books, supplies, and equipment needed for ongoing studies at NUPOC. One $500 scholarship is awarded each spring.
