Russia will take on the World Select team in the traditional “Russia vs. the World” International Standing Amputee Ice Hockey Federation (ISIHF) game October 28, 2010, in St. Petersburg, Russia. The World Select team features experienced and decorated ISIHF players and includes representatives from several countries including Canada, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Israel, and Germany, where the sport is in its early stages of development, according to an International Paralympic Committee (IPC) press release.
Played in conjunction with the program of the International Congress and Trade Fair, “People and Health,” the game will be attended by patients, congress and trade fair delegates, as well as officials and diplomats of Russia and the World team countries.
The International Paralympic Committee Governing Board granted the ISIHF the status of “IPC recognized International Federation” in its Governing Board meeting in March 2010.
