The Hanger Ivan R. Sabel Foundation, the charitable organization of Hanger Orthopedic Group, Austin, Texas, received a $1,500 donation from the Haitian Ministries for the Diocese of Norwich, a non-profit Haitian Ministry affiliated with the Catholic Church. Accompanying the check was a piece of metal artwork titled “The Tree of Life,” crafted in Haiti.
The funds are earmarked for the ongoing efforts of the prosthetic and rehabilitation center at the Hospital Albert Schweitzer, Deschapelles, Haiti. The facility has fitted nearly 700 people with amputations with custom prosthetics since first opening its doors in February 2010, according to a Hanger press release.
