A donation of more than US$ 25,000 will allow 100 Palestinian refugee families and disabled refugees to receive prosthetic equipment and financial assistance for home modifications. An agreement signed by the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) consolidated the cooperation between the two organizations, according to a UNRWA press release.
“TIKA’s generous donation will alleviate the suffering of disabled Palestinian refugees,” Amneh Saqer, head of the UNRWA relief and social services program said. “It will also help in providing them with equal opportunities and integration into their community.”
TIKA Coordinator Metin Arislanbaş commended UNRWA’s work in improving living conditions for people with disabilities in refugee camps, and looks for further cooperation in the future.
Roger Hearn, director of UNRWA affairs in Syria, thanked TIKA: “We are immensely grateful for their kind donation. It is a testament to the commitment of the international community in supporting Palestinian refugees, and we look forward to a long and valuable partnership.” He also thanked the Syrian government for their ongoing cooperation with UNRWA.
