The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that it will delay the April 1, 2011 deadline for states to implement their Medicaid Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) programs.
“Out of consideration for state operational issues and to ensure states comply with the provisions of the final rule, we have determined that states will not be required to implement their RAC programs by the proposed implementation date…,” CMS said in a statement issued February 1.
CMS anticipates a new deadline will be included in the final rule to be published later this year.
