Wieland Kaphingst, Dipl.-Ing., CPO (EC), CP, has joined Tamarack Habilitation Technologies, Minneapolis, Minnesota, as its business development manager. In his new position, Kaphingst will concentrate on expanding Tamarack’s product lines, with a focus on addressing tissue-trauma prevention needs within healthcare markets.
Kaphingst is certified as a prosthetist/orthotist in Germany and by the Europe Commission (EC), as well as being certified as a prosthetist by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC). With more than 40 years of professional experience in 26 countries in small and large patient care facilities, he has held industrial management positions with companies such as ipos North America; Össur, headquartered in Reykjavik, Iceland; and Germany-based Bauerfeind. Kaphingst also served as director of the German Federal O&P School. He has the equivalent of a U.S. master of science degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Giessen-Friedberg, Germany.
“It is difficult to find individuals with that spectrum of knowledge, skill, and international experience in O&P,” Marty Carlson, owner and president of Tamarack Habilitation Technologies, said of Kaphingst. “His familiarity with O&P practice in many international markets will help Tamarack to be more aware of opportunities to match our technologies with needs overseas.”
