Össur, Reykjavik, Iceland, has received 2011 red dot Design Awards, in the Life Science and Medicine group, for its PROPRIO FOOT® and Rebound® Air Walker.
“As a company that has been dedicated to improving people’s mobility for four decades, Össur is honored to have received this recognition from the red dot organization,” Jon Sigurdsson, Össur president and CEO, said. “We remain deeply committed to continuing our pursuit of excellence in design and technological innovation, so that even more people may enjoy life without limitations.”
According to the red dot website, there were 4,433 entries in 18 categories, and more than 60 countries participated-including first-time participants, Belarus and Nepal. The jury’s selection criteria included the product’s degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, durability, symbolic and emotional content, product peripherals, self-explanatory quality, and ecological soundness. The awards will be presented at a gala on July 4, in Essen Germany.
