Three Québec, Canada-based companies, Orthoconcept, headquartered in Laval; Clinique du Pied Equilibre, founded in Sillery; and Ergoresearch, headquartered in Montreal, have grouped their activities in the Complexe ERGO, which recently opened in Laval.
The Complexe ERGO, realized in partnership with the owner of the building in which it is located, represents a $4 million investment and includes Orthoconcept general orthotics services, the foot orthotics services offered by the Clinique du Pied Equilibre, and Ergoresearch research and development and fabrication services. The facility will also house Canada’s first living lab for osteoarthritis, according to an Ergoresearch press release.
“The first living lab for osteoarthritis of the knee will operate in the Complexe ERGO by late May,” Sylvain Boucher, president of Ergoresearch, said. “This unique approach enables a patient to consult all the medical and paramedical professionals who can help treat osteoarthritis of the knee.” Physicians, orthopedists, kinesiologists, physiotherapists, orthotists, and nutritionists will work together to provide patients with diagnoses, services, and products under one roof.
This partnership marks the beginning of an expansion phase for Ergoresearch. “We are in the acquisition mode across Canada,” Boucher said. “Our R&D department…will soon be introducing technologies and products that will revolutionize the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee, amongst others…. This is…just the beginning of a process that will…position us at the forefront of the North American orthopedic industry.”
