The Amputee Coalition has announced its 2012 officers and board of directors. Serving in 2012 are: Marshall J. Cohen of New York, returning to the position of chairman of the board; Pat Chelf of Minnesota, returning to the position of vice-chair; Dennis Strickland of Georgia, returning to the position of vice-chair; Jeff Lutz of Louisiana, returning to the position of treasurer; and Charles Steele of New York as secretary. Each officer will serve for a one-year term.
“As the Amputee Coalition enters its 26th year, I speak for the entire board, and we appreciate the vote of confidence we have been given,” Cohen said. “As a board and as an organization, we are dedicated to serving our constituents and to ensure that the Amputee Coalition is responsive to the needs of people already affected by limb loss and the two million Americans at risk. We have made much progress in our first 25 years, but with the rise of diabetes and vascular disease, we have many challenges ahead for our next 25 years.”
The Amputee Coalition’s newest board member is California-resident Mahesh Mansukhani, president of Össur Americas, Foothill Ranch, California. Mansukhani joined Össur in 2008. Immediately prior to that, he was a director at the global-consulting firm AlixPartners, headquartered in Southfield (Detroit), Michigan. In addition to positions as a global business director and global director of marketing and sales effectiveness, Mansukhani has also held roles in management consulting and finance.
Continuing their service on the Amputee Coalition board are Leslie Pitt Schneider of Minnesota and Terrence Sheehan, MD, of Maryland.
According to Cohen, the board will continue to grow throughout the year. “We have several extremely great candidates in our nominating process and expect to add three to five additional board members over the next 18 months,” Cohen said.
