The Amputee Coalition announced that David Dunville, Stella Sieber, and Troy Turner have been named to serve on its Scientific and Medical Advisory Committee (SciMAC). Their appointments began with the attendance of their first meeting on August 17, and each will serve for a three-year term.
Dunville and Sieber will serve as consumer representatives. Turner will serve as a military and prosthetics research representative.
Dunville is president of the Amputee Firefighters Association. He is an Amputee Coalition-certified peer visitor and an amputee support coordinator for H-Care Hurley/Binson’s Medical Equipment, headquartered in Flint, Michigan.
Sieber is an Amputee Coalition-certified peer visitor trainer and a Promoting Amputee Life Skills (PALS) trainer at Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research & Policy, Baltimore, Maryland. She is also a support group leader of the Triangle Amputee Support (TAS) Devils, Durham, North Carolina.
Turner is the research portfolio manager for Advanced Prosthetics and Neural Engineering at the Telemedicine & Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), Fort Detrick, Maryland, for the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command.
Charlie Steele’s term has expired and he is stepping off the committee. He continues to serve as secretary of the Coalition’s board of directors.

SciMAC contributes clinical and scientific expertise in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Amputee Coalition programs, research, and policy initiatives.
