The Amputee Coalition announced that it has relocated its headquarters to 9303 Center Street, Suite 100, Manassas, Virginia 20110, which is in the Greater Washington DC area. The new phone number is 703.330.1699. The Coalition said that the move was necessary for purposes of national collaborations, awareness building, and advocacy. The former headquarters, located in Knoxville, Tennessee, will remain open as a branch office and the National Limb Loss Resource Center will continue to be housed there.
“As a national organization, being in the Greater DC area will allow us more opportunities to be present for national policy issues, coalition building, and working with partners like the Veteran’s Administration,” said Marshall Cohen, PhD, chairman of the board of the Amputee Coalition.
In addition, the Coalition continues to strengthen its relationship with its partners in the military as well as with nearby healthcare organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, and the Bridging Advanced Developments for Exceptional Rehabilitation (BADER) Consortium, Newark, Delaware, Cohen said.
The Coalition will host an open house on September 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The open house will be combined with an outdoor Limb Loss Education Day (LLED) that will feature an OPAF First Climb, where individuals with amputations will be invited to participate in a rock-climbing wall course.
