Orthopadie Technik Berlin MPC (OTB), Germany, a joint venture between Al Batha Group, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bauerfeind, headquartered in Zeulenroda-Triebes, Germany, has taken over the management and operation of the Rashid Hospital, Dubai, UAE, trauma rehabilitation workshop, and it has opened an O&P retail store as well as a 2,150-square-foot O&P workshop. Opening of the O&P retail store was announced earlier this year.
Patients who require post-trauma rehabilitation and O&P services will now have access to mobility solutions and diagnostic tools as well as complete measurement, casting, delivery, and fitting of O&P devices without the need to travel outside the country. OTB will staff the O&P workshop with 25 experienced O&P practitioners from Europe.
“The new center and facilities provide patients that have any kind of disability with access to state-of-art treatment facilities as well as high-quality products including artificial limbs,” said Al Murooshid, director general of the Dubai Health Authority, in an . “The most important benefit is that now these products will be available locally at competitive prices, ensuring patients do not need to place an order abroad. This move will cut the waiting time, thus providing patients who suffer from any kind of disability with easy access to high-quality treatment and care.”
