Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, has endowed the OPAF Dale Yasukawa Scholarship for 2014. This is the seventh consecutive year that Jeffrey Brandt, CPO, president and owner of Ability, has donated and designated funds for the $1,000 scholarship program that is open to all full-time master’s program candidates enrolled at Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotic Center (NUPOC), Chicago, Illinois.
Yasukawa, CP, who passed away November 22, 2001, at the age of 43, and Brandt were colleagues at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), where Yasukawa served as director of prosthetics in the O&P clinical services department.
“I was a scholarship recipient while at Northwestern and knew and worked alongside Dale at RIC,” said Brandt. “So when this scholarship in his name was started, I made the commitment to him and to the students that I would always fund it. It gives me great pleasure to give back in Dale’s name and help a new student enter the profession.”
