Para Tri, a sporting event for people with disabilities in the United Kingdom, has partnered with Ottobock UK, Egham, England, to sponsor its inaugural race on August 9. Ottobock UK will also provide technical support and repairs for the estimated 500 participants. The event is open to any person with a disability and includes four individual races, as well as three relay races in which friends and family can participate. According to Para Tri, it is the U.K.’s first ever stand-alone mass-participation disability sports event, and is the first in a series that will include a Para Swim and a Para Run/Push.
“Para Tri is the realization of a long-held dream that was inspired by taking part in many mass-participation events over the years,” said Sophia Warner, the founder and a sprinter and relay team member who represented the U.K. in the London 2012 Paralympic Games. “This is an exciting opportunity to make sport as fun as I know it can be for everyone.”
