The National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) announced the addition of two new board members who were each elected for a three-year term beginning January 1, 2016.
Tyler J. Dunham, CPO, is the new secretary. Dunham, a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Master of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics program, practices at Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Charlotte, North Carolina. He served NCOPE as a regional resident liaison for the past two years and participated in the 2015 education summit and the strategic planning session. His addition to the board fills a spot that will be vacated by Christopher Robinson, MS, MBA, CPO, ATC, FAAOP.
Susan Spaulding, MS, CPO, was elected from among the O&P Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs-accredited programs for the educator position on the board. Spaulding is a teaching associate with the University of Washington’s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. She currently serves on NCOPE’s self-study review committee and as a site team member, and previously served as the chair of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists’ (the Academy’s) Gait Society and as treasurer for the Northwest Chapter of the Academy. She will fill a spot vacated by Miguel “Mike” Mojica, CPO.
In addition to Dunham, the new officers include the following:
- Charles Kuffel, MSM, CPO, FAAOP, assumes the chairmanship
- Arlene Gillis, Med, CP, LPO, FAAOP, moves to immediate past-chair
- Walter Afable, CP, is vice-chair
- Thomas Karolewski, MA, CP/L, FAAOP, is treasurer
