Ability Prosthetics and Orthotics, headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, and Freedom Innovations, Irvine, California, have formed a clinical research partnership to study Freedom’s Kinnex™ Microprocessor Ankle/Foot System. The study will compare the Kinnex to a typical carbon fiber prosthetic ankle/foot. This is an independent study that will be executed through an institutional review board-approved research protocol involving 30 patients, each with three research visits where standardized surveys, functional tests, and 2D motion analysis will be used to investigate how each ankle/foot system impacts mobility, balance, comfort, and walking on sloped surfaces.
“Ability is honored to have been selected as the clinical research organization by Freedom. We look forward to leveraging this experience into future endeavors to further advance the field of research in O&P,” said Jeffrey Brandt, CPO, founder and CEO of Ability P&O.
