The Amputee Coalition has issued a call for abstracts for educational presentations to be delivered at its 2017 National Conference, which is being held August 3-5 in Louisville, Kentucky. The deadline for submissions is December 15.
Suggested topics for presentations are as follows:
- Emotional adjustment to limb loss
- Emerging technologies for persons with limb loss
- Living well with limb loss
- Returning to the workforce
- Living an active lifestyle with limb loss
- Adaptive sports and recreation options for individuals with limb loss
- Specific equipment to support adaptive sport or recreational activities
- Parenting with limb loss
- Preventing and/or managing secondary conditions (e.g., back pain, skin breakdown)
- Pain management (including phantom limb pain)
- Safety in the home
- Women’s challenges with limb loss
- Tips for wheelchair users
- Aging with limb loss
- Pediatric limb loss/difference
- Upper-limb loss
- Family members, spouse, and caregivers
