The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics has published its 2016 Annual Report, which summarizes the organization’s successes and provides data on each program area, including statistics on certified individuals and accredited facilities. This year, the format of the report was changed to an infographic. Some sections of the infographic have links to corresponding areas of the ABC website for additional information. - A total of 765 individuals were newly certified in 2016, and there are 12,810 ABC-certified professionals, while in 2015 there were 647 newly certified individuals and 13,407 ABC-certified professionals.
- Of the ABC-accredited facilities in 2016, 63 percent were OP&P facilities, 30 percent pharmacies, 6 percent mastectomy, and 1 percent central fabrication facilities. Compared to 2015 allocations, there was a 4 percent increase in OP&P facilities, a 1 percent decrease in mastectomy facilities, and a 4 percent decrease in pharmacies.
