Northwestern University Prosthetic-Orthotic Center (NUPOC) has named David Speers, CPO, as a new faculty member.
Speers has worked in clinical practice for 25 years at the University of Iowa, Scheck & Siress, and Hanger Clinic in Illinois. His practice included many pediatric patients who needed orthotic management for scoliosis, fractures, club foot, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and toe walking. He also worked with orthopedic surgeons to help develop a femoral fracture brace to manage pediatric femur fractures in children zero to five years old, which replaces the need for a hip spica cast.
Speers is a member of the international scoliosis group, SOSORT, and has presented his research for members of SOSORT at multiple meetings.
