“Rubber fingers are so 1980s, yet outside of our profession, this is still considered one of the only options for someone with a partial hand difference,” says Bashuk. But options for this patient population are constantly expanding, allowing restoration of both form and function. Effectively managing the care of this patient population requires an understanding of the available options but also some additional time and dedication. The Academy’s Upper Limb Prosthetics Society is hosting the session that will include a panel discussion with clinicians sharing their experiences in treating this patient population.
