O&P IQ Curator-in-Chief

The American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (the Academy) is continuing its search for a Curator-in-Chief (CIC) of its evidence database, O&P IQ. The CIC is appointed for a two-year term and may be reappointed for a second consecutive two-year term for a total of four years. Expected time commitment will be approximately eight hours per week (20% effort) to manage the curation process and fulfill responsibilities. A competitive stipend is available for this volunteer position to compensate for the effort required. The stipend amount is commensurate with experience.

Background
O&P IQ facilitates access to the latest research for all Academy members. Articles are automatically pulled into O&P IQ as drafts, and trained curators review and publish or remove each resource. In the curation of each resource, an expert assigns metadata elements, which allows Academy members to easily find resources that best inform their clinical question.
Role & Responsibilities
* Manage and ensure the accuracy of the O&P IQ database and curation process.
* Lead and motivate a team of 5 to 10 remote curators. Develop and actualize a plan to attract and train curators. Ensure the accuracy of the curation process.
* Develop a curator board for O&P IQ comprised of healthcare and research professionals who will advise on current and future directions for the database.
* Establish the O&P IQ as a source of literature for O&P professionals
Qualifications
REQUIRED
* Evidence of management, leadership, and/or service within clinical practice, academia, professional organizations, and/or research teams
* A graduate degree in O&P or related field, or evidence of formal training in research methods. PhD candidates are welcome to apply
* Demonstrated passion for research and promotion of evidence-based practice in O&P
* Familiarity with and use of the O&P IQ database
* Ability to work independently
* Access to a wide professional network to increase awareness of the O&P IQ database within the profession
PREFERED
* Five plus years of clinically-relevant experience
* A publication record, research experience, development of secondary knowledge materials, and/or other evidence of familiarity with O&P research
* Certification by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics as a clinician
* Experience with data management or database architecture is a plus.
