Hi there, I have a client with a forequarter amputation, she is missing the shoulder and arm, and has skin grafts from just below her neck all the way to her waist. About half of her upper body is skin grafts. She has some very sensitive nerve endings mostly close to the curve of the neck/shoulder. She is looking for us to make something simple to ensure that the weight of jackets and heavy clothing does not touch the nerve endings. She has a medical device inserted medial to the contra lateral shoulder in the area of her clavicle to complicate matters.
We are having trouble suspending anything, and it also needs to be easy enough to get on with one arm. She is quite independent when it comes to getting dressed and wants to remain that way. If the device were to make her shoulders look even she would be glad, but that is not the prime goal.
Any recommendations?
