Pediatric Elbow immobilizer

Tracy Fields

Looking for suggestions…

We have a 7 year old pt who has trisomy 18 and is very petite (more about
the size of a 5 year old).

She has a severe habit of placing her hands in her mouth and choking
herself. We have been using DeRoyal Pediatric Elbow Immobilizers-Foam and
are replacing them about every 6 months due to wear and tear. Being she is
in school and the teachers take them off periodically during the day for
therapy they wear the fabric out.

We now have the issue that she is still able to get her hands to her mouth.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a soft brace that would be more
successful at preventing her from getting her hands in her mouth.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you
