OPAF needs your help. We conduct a Silent Auction in the Exhibit Hall of the AOPA National Assembly every year. This is our major fundraiser annually. I have personally been responsible for this auction for the past 14 years. Every year we ship auction items via UPS to the warehouse of the decorator in large black cases. Yesterday we learned that UPS has managed to lose half of the cases we shipped. Though we have no way of knowing exactly what will not arrive in the exhibit hall, we know it will not include many valuable auction items. UPS has offered us very little hope these cases will ever be found. Even if they are found, it will be too late for the Silent Auction in San Diego this week. We normally raise between $20,000 and $25,000 with the auction.
Since the Silent Auction is our major fundraiser, not being able to accept bids on a large number of our items will have a significant impact on our operating budget. OPAF operates on a very small budget without any fluff. Losing significant revenues from this auction could have a catastrophic impact on our ability to continue having a positive impact on the lifestyles of people with physical challenges. We are asking for your assistance. Any donations will be helpful. All donations are fully tax deductible. OPAF will issue letters recognizing your donation that can be included with our 2019 tax returns.
