Torque adapter ??

R. Klee Burri

OK, I have a problem that I’m hoping somebody out there in the List Serve has a solution for. I have a patient who really loves brutalizing carefully manicured lawn‘s and tiny white balls with clubs. However, every time he engages in this activity he develops some torsion related pain in his residual limb. The obvious solution is a torque adapter. He has a moderately long residual limb and a fairly tall build height, highly flexible foot. A quick search shows that several companies list torque adapters on their websites all of which are moderately low build height and should fit in his existing prosthesis. However, when you contact these companies you are informed that while it is still on their website those torque adapters are longer available. As far as I can tell the only company still offering a low build height torque only adapter is that German company which sells a stiff stainless steel boat anchor that they list as a torque adapter.

Does anybody out there have a suggestion for a low build height torsion adapter that doesn’t weigh 6000 pounds? I could really use some help on this one.

Thanks,

Bobby Burri.
