plantar flexion contractures

Benjamin Kuhse

Hello, I recently saw a patient with a equino varus deformity along with a 15 degree plantar flexion contracture(assessed non weight bearing). Pt’s current AFO is a solid AFO design set at neutral with the medial border of the foot plate extended. I was told that when the patient weight bears the plantar flexion is reduced but hind foot alignment is unknown.
I am trying to find out what other clinicians are doing for AFO designs to treat plantar flexion contractures (solid AFO with tuned lifts, articulated AFO, etc.).
