heel lifts

Joe Perry CP RFO

My orginal question, listed below, was met with several well articulated responses. The overwhelming majority prefer an intial cut with a cast saw followed by either a band saw or sharp knife either utility or skiving. Several responses indicated an inhouse manufactured wood block assembly secured within the shoe for band saw use-I would love to see some pics!!

Once again I appreciate the many responses received.

I have a question for the list, we all do heel/sole lifts, in our office we use a box cutter, skiving knife, or in rare instances a band saw to remove the sole and then add our appropriately measured lift. My problem is the kniv es tend to leave jagged edges leading to difficulties with rebonding the soles even after they are ground, a nyone have any tricks or tools they are using to create a smooth even cut?
