pneumatic cast saws responses

Michael Kiser,C.O.

My original message is listed below, my summary of responses,

Thank you to all the many responders,

Most responses were about daily oiling of the cast saws and air dryers to
keep moisture out of the lines.

Some were about different electric saws. And a husky pneumatic saw from Home
depot this one was circular as opposed to oscillating.

Most responders felt that the Dotco saws are bullet proof as long as the
operator was oiling and ensuring dry air.

My question was if anyone has seen a recent decline in durability in the
Dotco saws as we have been using them for 25 years in the same manner and
only recently had issues with durability.

I have had the same lead technician for that period of time but I did
install an automatic oiler from Pel just in case he has fallen off his
oiling duties (though it has to be filled daily).

I did buy a new Dotco to get us through and will rebuild the other 2 myself
as I found a parts distributer
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/dotco-12l206590-straight-oscillating-saw-pa
rts-c-132416_132423_132474.html .

Very few companies make all parts in-house (we don’t) and all companies try
to grow their bottom line so my question, though poorly stated, was to find
out if one inferior 3rd world part has been found in the Dotco saws.

Thank you all,

Hello,

I am wondering if any of you have been having durability issues with your
pneumatic cast saws?

I usually get 3 to 4 years out of my Dotco brand saws but have recently had
trouble with them.

They are pricy items and I don’t mind spending the money if they last a
reasonable length of time.

We use them as we always have for the last 25 years.

I bought one in June and it lasted 4 months.

I replaced it in October and it just broke lasting only 3 months.

What brands do you use and where did you buy them?

I will post a summary of comments.

Thank you all in advance.
