Practitioners Needed to Help Develop New Measures of Mobility

SARA J. MORGAN

Colleagues,

Thanks to all who have provided assistance with recruitment efforts for the development of the Prosthetic Limb Users Survey (PLUS), a new patient-reported measure of prosthetic mobility. To date, more than 300 participants in 39 states have completed our online survey. Thanks to all of you, we have made great progress. However, we still need more people to take the survey. In order for us to make PLUS most useful to you and your practices, we need about 700 more respondents.

We would greatly appreciate any additional help our fellow O&P providers across the United States might offer to let persons with lower limb amputation know about this survey (www.mobilitysurvey.org). Eligible respondents will receive $25 for taking the survey.

If you would like help make PLUS a useful clinical tool, please consider providing your patients with information about the survey. We have IRB-approved informational posters, flyers, and cards that we can send you free of charge. Contact us at [email protected] or 1-800-504-0564 to request materials you can display, post, or provide them to prosthetic users. Paper surveys are also available.

You can find out more about this project in the following articles:

Please consider promoting this project to people with lower limb amputations and sharing this information with your colleagues who treat or interact with persons with lower limb amputations. The more people who participate in this survey, the better the outcome measure will be. PLUS-M will be made freely available after this survey is complete, so you can look forward to using it in your classrooms, clinics, and research studies!

Thank you,
