Effective performance of the cycling task requires integration of human
neuromuscular control systems and the machine in order to efficiently
negotiate the bicycle in its environment. This study contends that
pedaling asymmetry in the cyclists with Transtibial amputations (CTA)
group is significantly higher than the intact population, asymmetry will
decrease as the prosthetic foot becomes stiffer and power loss due to
the affected ankle joint is not the only cause of pedaling asymmetry.
