Recently, I have been receiving a magazine called “Advance for directors in Rehabilitaion.” In the April issue (p 51) there is an article written by Rick Gawenda PT called Money Makers (Among techniques to increase reimbursement, learn to bill properly for O&P)– it explains to therapists how to increase their reimbursement by making sure they bill for custom O & P devices. It reminds them they don’t need a DME license to bill for O&P.
The article explains how and what forms to use, what codes and modifiers and documentation needed to get paid for both their therapy and the custom O&P products delivered. Custom UE prosthetics, LE prosthetics and TLSOs are specifically mentioned. Guess those would be most helpful for improving
their reimbursement… Just thought I’d throw that out to the list for
comment.
