Tom Gorski

I would like to dissociate myself as an Academy member from Mr.Gorski’s
recent posting of Mr. Bush’s remarks. This is in no way to diminish the work of the
rehabilitation team at Walter Reed. I found Mr. Gorski’s lengthy inclusion of
Mr. Bush’s remarks irrelevant to the OANDP-L as a professional dialog and
inappropriate as the expression of a personal political view posted by the
executive director of the Academy. If Mr. Gorski wishes to make personal political
statements he should do so privately, not in an international forum.

Among Mr.Gorski’s quotes from Mr.Bush’s remarks was this: “Members of the
Armed Forces are now serving in a great cause, serving in an historic time. The
peace and security of our fellow citizens depend upon their bravery and their
willingness to serve.” This characterization of the war in Iraq “as a great
cause” upon which “the peace and security of our fellow citizens depends” may
be Mr.Gorski’s and Mr.Bush’s, but it has not been voted on by the Academy and
is opposed by a great number of concerned Americans. As an ABC Certified
Prosthetist for twenty years and member of the Academy it certainly does not
represent me. The worthiness of this cause is debatable and continues to be
debated as is the right of individuals in this country and in this Academy.
Mr.Gorski should know better.
