Looking for any ideas on orthotic protocol for nursemaid’s elbow. Yesterday I had a li’l girl(2yrs.) with this diagnosis with a generic Rx saying eval. & treat. She has had recurrent radial head dislocations, and recently came out of a cast which she had for 5-6 months. She popped out again within days. It got to the point that now mother has been taught how to reduce it, and she does it effectively. According to literature I found, this situation usually resolves by the time the child reaches the age of 4 years, as by then the radial head grows enough to stay contained. It’s still another 2 years for this child. I have thought of a protective elbow orthosis, and have already taken an impression. All suggestions are welcome.
