Spring

Karl Montan

Dear list members,

As I am an old partial foot amputee (Lisfranc), I have often heard that

a spring in the bottom of the prosthesis or in the sole of the shoeware

– sometimes in both – would be efficient. The spring will give a more

normal gait as before the push off there is a loading of energy by

bending, which can be used later during the push off moment.

I have some doubt about this function for partial foot amputees:

during the loading phase will be a hard pressure on teh plantar-distal

part of the foot, which not seldom is the most sensitive part. And

very much so if the prosthesis is only an insert with a filler.

Your comments are most welcome.
