The Orthotics and Prosthetics Foundation for Education and Research announced $114,000 in funding opportunities available this fall across its program areas in research, education, and professional awards.
Funding opportunities include:
Research: The Fall Mentored Pilot Grant program awards one-year grants of $5,000 intended to help O&P trainees (e.g., masters/doctoral students or residents) or clinicians complete a research project with the guidance of an experienced research mentor. The program opens September 1, a letter of intent is due by October 6, and proposals are due by November 3.
The Fall Microgrants program awards two one-year grants of $2,000 to support clinically relevant activities and projects. The microgrants aim to empower health professionals, researchers, students, and residents to pursue projects and activities that may contribute to clinical care in O&P. Microgrants are awarded biannually based on the scholarly merit and clinical relevance of the proposed activity/project. The program opens September 1 and closes October 6.
Education: The O&P Foundation is also launching the Fuel the Future of O&P Scholarship program this year. This program awards five $20,000 scholarships annually to support and recognize incredible O&P clinical master’s degree students. The program opens August 25 and closes September 22.
Professional Awards: The Carlton Fillauer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Prosthetic Science and Practice, sponsored by the Fillauer family, recognizes prosthetists or prosthetist/orthotists who have actively contributed to and significantly impacted clinical care, research, and scientific dissemination in the prosthetics specialty. In addition to receiving the recognition of the Carlton Fillauer Award, recipients will receive a $5,000 unrestricted cash award. Nominations are open through August 4.
