Össur appointed Lukas Märklin as its new chief operating officer (COO). He will also be a member of the executive committee. A native of Switzerland, Märklin comes to Össur from Straumann, one of the world’s largest dental implant manufacturing groups. His career with Straumann spans over two decades, most recently serving as senior vice president of operations. He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from ETHZ Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
Märklin will replace Egill Jónsson, executive vice president of operations, who will retire at the end of the year after 27 years with Össur.
“We are pleased to welcome Lukas Märklin to Össur. His experience within the global medical device industry including responsibility for numerous manufacturing sites make him well-suited to lead operations for Össur. He has a strong track record of driving change with a focus on operational excellence to meet the demands of a growing company,” said Sveinn Sölvason, Össur president and CEO, who thanked Jónsson for his contribution to the company.
