Össur, Reykjavik, Iceland, has invested in IUVO, a spin-off company of the BioRobotics Institute (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna), Pisa, Italy, to create wearable technologies. Össur made the joint investment with Comau, Turin, Italy, a company that specializes in industrial automation.
Össur and Comau hold a majority share of IUVO; Comau is a majority holder. Focus is set on research and development as well as the launch of new wearable robotic technologies, such as exoskeletons. IUVO was founded in 2015 by a team of post-doctorates, professors, and researchers to exploit the achievements of national and European research projects.
