October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, more than 360,000 people (men and women) will be diagnosed in 2024. Our question: What can you do to be proactive and show your support? Of those who responded on LinkedIn, half said they donate to the cause and the other half said they get the recommended screenings.
Since October is a popular month and we agree there a lot to like, we asked the obvious: What’s your favorite thing about October?
The weather, of course.
Of those who responded on LinkedIn, 67 percent said it is the weather; 17 percent said it was all the sports happening this month, and 17 percent said Halloween, including pumpkin patches and parties. No one said the best thing about October was pumpkin spice lattes. Can we all agree that all things pumpkin spice has gotten a little out of hand? This writer recently saw a marquee that said, “Coming Soon, Pumpkin Spice Oil Changes.”
This week we decided to focus our poll question on donating blood. Did you know that according to the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies, nearly 29,000 units of red blood cells are required in hospitals and emergency treatment facilities every day in the United States?
How often do you give blood? That question for the current poll is up and in full swing. So far, our voters are regular donors at every eight weeks or so.
Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
