The need for blood is great. According to the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies, nearly 29,000 units of red blood cells are required in hospitals and emergency treatment facilities every day in the United States—and did you know that a single unit of blood can save up to three lives? Our followers who responded on LinkedIn, 24 percent said they give blood every eight weeks or so; 52 percent said they donate occasionally; and 24 percent said they have never given blood.
In the November issue of The O&P EDGE an article highlights the value of attending national and local conferences. The meetings aren’t just about presentations, exhibits, or to maintain credentials, they also offer a plethora of other information and guidance.
We asked our followers why they attend these events. Of those who responded on LinkedIn, 41 percent said they attend to stay abreast on the changes in the O&P profession; 27 percent said attending meetings helps them to stay involved; 18 percent said the meetings are a good place to network, and 14 percent said the meetings inspire them.
Since we were coming up to Election Day, we asked how our readers were going to vote. On LinkedIn, 36 percent said they had already mailed in their ballot; 32 percent said they were voting on Election Day, and 25 percent said they had already used early voting options to vote in person. 7 percent said how you vote doesn’t matter—just vote!
