One of our recent poll questions highlighted the office Christmas party. Like so many traditional happenings during the holidays, one can’t forget to plan for the office Christmas parties and after-hours holiday events—whether you want to attend them or not. We asked: “Do you look forward to attending office parties or after-work events?” Half of the respondents love going to either one; 25 percent said, “Nope, not for me;” 20 percent said they attend such functions because they have to, and five percent had other ideas but elected not to share.
On X (formerly known as Twitter) responses were spilt between love to attend either one and doing something else, but no one elaborated.
As Christmas was closing in, we asked “What’s your favorite Christmas movie?” 30 percent said Home Alone; 21 percent said A Christmas Story; 18 percent chose It’s a Wonderful Life, and 30 percent had other favorites.
Die Hard, said one follower, who added, “Come on, not even a contest here.” Another said Miracle on 34th Street. “Hello!” said another follower, “Christmas Vacation!” Someone else contributed Ernest Saves Christmas. We got two followers voted for White Christmas and another for Little Drummer Boy.
And, finally, one of our followers apparently wasn’t in the Christmas spirit: “Bah, humbug,” he wrote.
On X, one-third of our followers voted for Home Alone, and A Christmas Story. The rest made other choices but choose to keep them a secret.
Our poll last week focused on what just about everyone does this time of year: new year’s priorities, goals, and resolutions. Our question was “What’s your top priority or goal for 2024?” Of those who responded, 35 percent said they intend to enhance their career development; 30 percent said they’d like to better their financial success; 25 percent said they want better work/life balance, and 10 percent hadn’t decided yet. On X it was unanimous, better work/life balance.
Our poll this week continues a new year theme—the best way to manage your time during the workday. Our question, “What’s your preferred method for managing your time at work,” is up and in full swing. So far, our voters are saying that making to-do lists are the best way. Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
