A documentary film by SO Every BODY Can Move (SEBCM), Not Medically Necessary, made its debut on October 26 with a virtual screening for with over 1,000 advocates followed by its world premiere in New York City on October 29. The movie opens to community screenings nationwide November 1.
Not Medically Necessary weaves together interviews with personal footage shared by patients, clinicians, and SEBCM advocates around the country. It tells the stories of people whose lives were impacted by accident, illness, and circumstance who then learned that O&P and rehabilitation care and technology was often unavailable through insurance plans. The SEBCM movement is focused on supporting legislation to improve access to physical activity specific to O&P care.
