The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab promoted Levi Hargrove, PhD, to vice president, strategic research infrastructure.
In this newly created role, Hargrove will be responsible for advancing the organization’s research enterprise by strengthening research infrastructure, guiding high-priority initiatives, and helping accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical and commercial impact. Hargrove will continue to lead the Regenstein Foundation Center for Bionic Medicine as scientific chair, a position he has held since 2020. The center is a translational research group that focuses on improving prosthetic options for people with amputations.
Hargrove, cofounder of Coapt, is also an associate professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He received the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists Research Award in 2018 and was an American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association Howard R. Thranhardt Award recipient in 2025.
“Levi has long been a driving force behind our research enterprise, combining scientific excellence with a special ability to bridge the gap between discovery and real-world impact,” said Richard Lieber, PhD, vice president of research and chief scientific officer at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, on LinkedIn. “This new role recognizes both his extraordinary contributions and the critical importance of investing in the infrastructure that will elevate our translational research enterprise.”
