I recently returned from the 2012 Annual Scientific Symposium of the Florida Association of Orthotists & Prosthetists (FAOP) and the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (FCAAOP) in Marco Island, Florida. The O&P EDGE was the exclusive media provider for the event. The meeting was a huge success, largely due to the time and effort Dino Scanio, CO, LO; Lisa Scanio; and their cohorts spent planning and executing it. Attendees had a great selection of educational sessions to go to, and the exhibit hall was packed with more than 70 exhibitors. A highlight of the meeting was a luau-themed banquet complete with a roasted pig and all the trimmings. The youngsters were treated to more kid-friendly offerings like hot dogs, hamburgers, Rice Krispy treats, and popsicles. Dan Strzempka, CPO, who helped develop a prosthetic tail for Winter, the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin that inspired the 2011 movie Dolphin Tale—gave a brief introduction. Wallace Faraday and Josh Culler provided music.
